We developed the Hot Melt Adhesive 3MTM Scotch-WeldTM 3792 as a transparent adhesive with heat-melt and low-melt versions that effectively bond heat-sensitive materials such as wood, coated paper for furniture, upholstery and other lightweight materials.

Our multi-use adhesive has an opening time of between 40 and 50 seconds, enough to place and fit pieces of wood, polyethylene, polypropylene, corrugated cardboard and light substrates on furniture, upholstery and jewelry. Its almost instantaneous bonding capacity reduces production times in point of sale assembly, bonding, fastening, fixing, repair, filling, panel bonding, cable bonding, packaging, sealing, encapsulation, stiffening, foam bonding and packaging processes.

The thermosetting adhesive 3M 3792 is manufactured from 100% solid thermoplastic resin and is used with the heat fuse applicator 3MTM Scotch-WeldTM LT, LT Quadrack or EC, depending on the version. As it is practically odorless when heated, it contributes to a pleasant working environment.

BENEFITS

• We make the heat melt adhesive 3M 3792 100% solid thermoplastic resin for use with heat melt applicators 3MTM Scotch-WeldTM LT, LT Quadrack or EC, depending on the version.
• It is a low volatility organic compound (VOC), produces minimal odors when heated and contributes to a pleasant working environment.
• This thermoplastic adhesive has excellent electrical insulation, heat and thermal shock resistance, and is noncorrosive.
• Heat melt adhesives/hot glue tablets have a relatively hot melting point in the range of 121 to 196 °C, depending on the formulation, and are applied with heat melt applicators, commonly referred to as hot glue pistols.
• Heat melt adhesives provide an almost instantaneous bond between many plastics, papers, and woods but, when the bond is reheated, some varieties will soften and allow the previously bonded surfaces to separate.
• The fast-sticking nature of heat melt adhesives speeds up packaging and production operations.
• Low melt adhesives/hot glue tablets have a relatively low melting point ranging between 76 and 121 °C, depending on the formulation, and are applied with low temperature applicators, usually called hot glue pistols.
• Low-fusion adhesives are beneficial because they can be used to bond heat-sensitive materials such as foams and a variety of plastics.
• They provide an almost instantaneous bond but, when the bond is reheated, some varieties will soften and allow the previously bonded surfaces to separate.
• The aggressive hot-stick nature of low-melt adhesives accelerates assembly and production operations involving light-gauge metals, some plastics and other non-fibrous materials in addition to the manufacture of display boards, flower displays and hobby projects.
