To improve safety during the use of protection systems for ascent, SKYLOTEC has developed the SPEED, the only slide in the world that has two redundant grip systems and a speed-based restraint function. The principle of operation of the SPEED is very simple: the safety lock is hidden inside the housing, protected against unauthorised intervention. Thanks to an additional lever, during the ascent the SPEED works just like a retractor. The slide remains close and, consequently, the fall distance remains short. This makes climbing more comfortable and reduces falls. If a reversing traction failure occurs, either due to incorrect behaviour or bad luck, the tread can only reach a fixed and predefined maximum speed. If this speed is exceeded: a centrifugal brake blocks the tread.
