STORAGE

It is recommended that all coated abrasive products be stored at constant temperature and humidity levels between 18 and 22 °C and between 50 and 65 per cent relative humidity. They should be kept away from damp (or cold) walls, windows or floors to avoid possible moisture absorption. Similarly, storage should be avoided near heat sources such as steam pipes, radiators, hot air ducts, furnaces, etc. It is best to store the product in its original packaging until it is ready for use. Under such conditions, its shelf life is indefinite.

SAFETY

Wherever possible, sanding should be carried out in a well-ventilated area and appropriate glasses, dust masks and gloves are strongly recommended. Discs should only be used on machines with a specially designed suitable support pad and in good maintenance condition at all times. The abrasive discs shall be symmetrically arranged and shall not protrude more than 2 mm from the outer edge of the support pad. Abrasive discs and damaged or deformed support pads should not be used. Neither the discs nor the pads should be modified in any way. They should only be used in their original size and shape as supplied. It is recommended to use the discs only on support pads clearly marked with the maximum permitted running speed. The speed must not be exceeded. When operating machinery, the disc shall be as inclined as possible with respect to the workpiece. Care should be taken to ensure that the discs without a central hole are mounted centrally on the support pad. In the case of self-adhesive discs, care should be taken to ensure that neither the adhesive nor the face of the support pad is contaminated by dust or other foreign substances before mounting. If any, the 'shelf life' indicated by the manufacturer shall not be exceeded. Before starting a pneumatic machine, if it is used together with self-adhesive discs, it must be held firmly and the disc must be in slight contact with the work area. If not in use, disk sanding machines should be placed on a specially designed support, or alternatively, they should be placed upside down. They must not be placed with the disc or the face of the pad in contact with the floor or work bench.
