Our PTFE film tape 3MTM 5490 uses an extruded polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) film support, which has an extremely low coefficient of friction, in combination with a pressure sensitive silicone adhesive to create smooth, non-sticky surfaces over a large varieadd of substrates to aid the movement of mesh materials in many types of rolling and packaging applications.
Our extruded film holder resists wrapping when unwrapped from the roll and stays flatter than beveled PTFE film adhesive tapes, creating a more uniform non-slip surface. Its thick support increases the service life of the adhesive tape against abrasion and wear. We developed this high strength adhesive tape as a quick and easy solution to reduce friction between moving surfaces. It serves as an anti-adhesive or as a means of easy release between surfaces where pressure, temperature changes and other factors can create a measure of adhesion. Apply the PTFE film tape 3Mtm 5490 can help improve surface movement and eliminate squeaking and rattling and reduce machining noise. PTFE has chemical resistance and can be used as a temporary chemical barrier. The tape has a wide range of operating temperatures, from -54 °C to 260 °C, making it suitable for a wide variety of functions.
Supply: 5 to 10 working days
CHARACTERISTICS
- Adhesive tape of calendered film, extruded, which resists wrapping while unwrapping for simpler application.
- The non-stick PTFE film provides an exceptionally smooth surface when applied and is easily cleaned from hot plastic.
- Wide temperature range for good performance in heated machinery and equipment.
- Tape of extruded PTFE film 3MTM PTFE is kept flatter than beveled PTFE adhesive film tapes.
- A thicker stand helps increase service life more than its thinner versions when subjected to abrasion and wear.
- Its high strength and abrasion resistance ensure reliability and performance to reduce friction, rattling and noise of the machinery.

What is PTFE?
Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is a synthetic material used in a wide variety of industries and applications to reduce friction coefficient. PTFE is used as an anti-stick coating for pans and other kitchen items for its anti-stick property, as well as its high heat resistance. Its non-conductivity makes it an excellent insulating material for electrical applications. It is very poorly reactive to many chemicals, partly due to the strength of its carbon-fluorine bonds; which makes it very effective for receptacles and masonry work against corrosive and reactive substances. PTFE reduces friction, wear and increases the energy efficiency of machining. Due to its low friction, PTFE is used in industrial applications where sliding action of parts is required, such as in bearings, gears, sliding plates, etc. In these applications, it offers better performance than nylon and acetal. 3M he has put this versatile compound through an extrusion process to create a thin film and then combined it with an adhesive to make his PTFE tape. High-performance PTFE tapes are innovative, reliable, durable and reduce friction.
