GENERAL DATA AND REGULATIONS

Speed reducers 3M are elevated devices, consisting of modular elements of vulcanized natural rubber, with yellow reflective and anti-slip tape inserts 3M Stamark series A651.

In Italy, their use is regulated by the New Italian Traffic Code (Art. 42) and by Decree-Law No 495 of 16.12.92. The three types of gearbox are approved in that country.

In Spain, for the RIGE, these devices are cited in Royal Decree 1428/2003 General Regulation of Traffic, although their full regulatory development is pending. In their field, different Autonomous Communities / Local Authorities have established specific regulations.

They are effective in reducing the speed of vehicles and preserving the safety of pedestrians in urban areas (low speed zones and heavy traffic).

The three types of gear reducers 3M have been approved by the italian government for different facilities.

Modules of any type have frames that facilitate composition and distribute effort over the series.

FACILITY

The installation of the gear reducers is carried out by means of bolts and expansion studs which allow an optimal ground anchoring during their service life and the possible removal of the elements.

Once the elements have been placed and combined in the final layout, the floor can be drilled with a 10 mm drill bit to a depth of 140 mm. The modules are then removed to allow the bolts to be inserted into the holes; the speed reducers are placed in their correct and final position and the bolts are screwed into the bolts.

It is important that the position of the screw inside the hole is perpendicular to the pavement, to ensure the correct distribution of forces throughout the element. It is also necessary to use steel washbasins of appropriate dimensions.

The anchorage system described is the only one that meets our technical specifications and approved by the Italian Ministry of Public Works.

3M does not assume responsibility for applications made by other mechanical devices or adhesive techniques.

The use of any type of adhesive in place of the expansion stick should be avoided as it prevents rainwater from flowing under the gearbox and its possible withdrawal.

Particular attention will have to be paid to pavements or to the different types of load normally found on our streets; on very rigid surfaces (such as concrete).

They are especially recommended for urban areas, advising against their installation on high-speed roads as well as on roads subject to heavy traffic.
