ADJUSTMENT ADVICE AND GUIDELINES
Size standards vary between manufacturers, so we recommend that you order the size that usually fits you best. Shoes For Crews shoes try to maintain consistent sizes for all different styles, and their sizes generally conform to European sizing standards. All available sizes are shown in the Select size drop-down menu on our website. If you're between sizes, we recommend ordering 1/2 size larger.
- The best time to measure and wear shoes is when the feet are at their largest point, usually in the late afternoon or evening.
- Always try to wear your new shoes with the same socks/socks that you would normally wear with this type of shoe.
- If you use your own insoles or braces inside your shoes, consider the extra volume when putting on new shoes. If your new shoes have a removable insole, remember to remove it and replace it with your own insole or brace. Insoles or orthotics affect how a shoe fits.
- Select the style of footwear that best fits the shape of your foot.
- Make sure that the widest part of your foot (the circumference around the ball) fits comfortably into the widest part of the shoe. Shoes should be as wide as your feet and a thumb (1/2 inch) longer than the longest finger when standing.
- Move your toes to make sure you have enough room for them.
- Do not select a shoe that is too small to prevent the heel from slipping. Your shoe should fit comfortably on the top of your foot, even if it is new.
- Boots provide more support and are more durable, but can be heavier and less flexible on the top of the shoe.
- Try your new shoes at home or on a clean surface for a few minutes before deciding on their fit and comfort.
- Remember that the size of your feet changes as you get older, they usually get bigger.
- Don't buy shoes that are too tight and wait for them to stretch to fit. They won't.
- Thick-soled shoes better cushion feet on hard surfaces.
- A shoe with laces or Velcro® closure usually fits better than a model without laces or heel.
- Low-heeled shoes are more comfortable and safe than high-heeled ones.
